Last Assignment - World Cup Injured Players

INJURED PLAYERS BEFORE THE WORLD CUP

by Atalo Luévano.

It's amazing how top players started getting injured just before the world cup. Starting with Radamel Falcao six months ago, the most valuable player from Colombia got injured in a Cup match while playing with his current team Monaco. It was expected that he could be ready for the World Cup, but that's something that unfortunately couldn't happen. The same happened with Theo Walcott, one of my favourite players, playing a normal match with his team Arsenal, he got badly injured... So badly injured that there was any hope of having him playing the World Cup with England. But the injured player that most affected us as Mexicans was Luis "El Chapo" Montes. He's maybe the best Mexican midfielder of the last years, and too much was expected for him in this World Cup. He just won for second time the Mexican Soccer League with his current team Leon, and while a friendly match before the World Cup he got an injury that left him out of the field for six months. It's sad to watch this happen, but it also makes sense to have this amount of injured players because for example, the Champions League last game was played 20 days ago. It's impossible for a player to play both tournaments with two different teams in less than one month, considering that when there's no World Cup they are vacationing in these days. FIFA should change the dates for next World Cup, but lets see what happens with this huge organization.

Homework #1 Unit #1: Piece Of Advice

“Keep going and never give up.”

No matter what happens, you should always continue on the run. Because there's always adversities that may block your way to success, but the key is to never give up and fight for your own dreams and for what you really want, and not for what others like.

3rd Homework- Pictures/Villas Flamingo in Akumal

This is an awesome place which represents my community, it's called Akumal. It's just 30 minutes away from Playa del Carmen and it's amazingly peaceful. I like it because it's not as far as Tulum but you can also camp or stay in condos at the beach.

Speaking of the experience that we had, we discovered this villas without planned it before. We were supposed to camp at a cabin in Tulum, but because if the rain it wasn't in good conditions... Luckily one friend's mom that works as a real estate broker found "Villas Flamingo" in Akumal that we're just a little bit note expensive than the ones of Akumal.

When we arrived to the place, we loved it. Akumal is amazing because it's like a typical little town in which stores are open until 9pm and just a couple of them until 1am. You walk by the beach and find turtle eggs and hermit crabs everywhere! And in the villas we had a pool which was amazing.

So this is Akumal, a lovely place for my community.

1st Homework - Recommendation

I would recommend you to visit "The Hot Baking Company"! It's a restaurant located in Centro Maya and also there's one on the 5th Avenue with Calle Corazón. It's a very complete restaurant because it has amazing breakfasts and delicious sandwiches and enchiladas all day long. If you want something to drink, they got milkshakes made with the fruits that you select... But not just that, they got very good smoothies and frappés. Also I worked there for the summer, and I recommend the place for consuming there and for working there. Hope one day you visit it!

2nd Homework - English Idiom

English Idiom:

"Jump Off The Page"

Meaning: If someone jumps off the page, he or she stands out or is extraordinarily intelligent or talented.

Example: Marilyn Monroe did jump off the page to hollywood superstardom from her struggling days of a stripper.

Dialogue:
A:I'm feeling too much pressure because I need to get good grades.
B:Don't feel bad, I know you`ll get the scholarship.
A:Yeah, but I feel insecure about all of it.
B:Stop it! You will jump off the page in school and get the best scholarship available.

*I couldn't find a story behind it. :(

Challenge Journal

My Challenge:
The goal that I have very present is the one of getting a scholarship for university. The university that I would like to attend is "Tecnológico de Monterrey", and something that is great for me is that they are offering scholarships in my school up for 70%! But I've got to work hard to achieve it.

And what causes a challenge for me is that this is my last grade of high school, and I was elected as the President of the Counsel of Students this year, which means that I've got too much work and responsibilities. So I have to pay attention to study and my grades, and also to all the school activities and parties to get money for our graduation.
